Share Transmission

Transfer shares to legal heirs

When a shareholder passes away, their shares don't automatically transfer to the family — a formal transmission process is required with the company's Registrar and Transfer Agent. This involves legal documentation that can feel overwhelming during an already difficult time.

What's Typically Required

Documents an RTA usually asks for

  • Legal heirship certificate or succession certificate
  • Death certificate of the original holder
  • Indemnity bond and affidavits
  • No Objection Certificates (NOC) from other legal heirs, where applicable
  • Identity and address proof of the claimant(s)
Every family's situation is different. Some cases involve a single heir and straightforward paperwork; others involve multiple heirs, name discrepancies, or shares split across IEPF, escrow, and suspense accounts. We assess your specific situation before telling you what's actually needed — not a generic checklist.
